Mr. Robert CHRIS's Story
Hello again, Oklahomans and Californians.
I am now living in Bakersfield, CA., and I am still single, never been married, no kids, and living alone, at my second address, also an apartment, 1 of 13 units.
My primary means of personal transportation is now my bicycle, my legs, and when I need to, I use both of those in conjunctive cooperative use with the Bakersfield City Bus transit, or G.E.T., Golden Empire Transit. Their buses are equipped with bicycle racks on the front of the bus.
I became physically impaired, and shortly thereafter learning disabled on October 2nd, 1984, when I was attempting to start the 11th grade at a high school I had never attended before. I did attend the high school. My disabilities affected me on a cellular and molecular level due to an allergic reaction to an "M.M.R." immunization on 10/02/1984. M.M.R. means Measles, Mumps, Rubella. On te date specified, I had no active case of any of them, and I was in perfect health, although it was the "school nurse" (I know her name) that noticed, by my forwarded records there, I had supposedly not had a Measles or Mumps vaccination, before I became age 1. I was told that day by another nurse at a local medical clinic that they were out-of-stock on the one immunization vaccine shot which I needed, so she soon thereafter informed both me and my mom that a combination shot (M.M.R.) could be substituted and administered. It was, and as I stood up, I started walking away as usual with a sore arm, and that was the beginning of me losing my hearing (started with ringing in both of my ears and it intensified), then my eyesight started to go away, and I was down on the floor, by the exit/entrance door. I was not co...Expand for more
nscious, obviously.
My mom thought I was faking it I suppose, as I remember her telling me, "Oh Chris, come off it", and also the nurse that administered the shot into my arm, I remember her saying at first, "Oh Robert (Robert is my first name), you are just scared of the needle, and you are just hyperventilating". Both witnesses were obviously in the wrong frame of mind, and wrong senses.
I was not. I was hurt. I could not even sit up inside the car, and I knew I could not start the school that day, and I asked to be taken home, and with a hasty reaction, my mom took me home. Some days later, I did go to the school. That was in early October 1984, and by the time early February or early March 1985 came along, I had already dropped out of a very important class which I needed: Driver's Education. I dropped out of it, knowing I just simply could not stay awake and learn as much as I knew I really needed to. I dropped out of CHICKASHA JUNIOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, in early February or early March 1985, and moved away to Bakersfield, California. I did not continue my high school here in Bakersfield, although I did try for the G.E.D. at the Bakersfield Adult School. I found that even when I tried to complete the G.E.D., I had the same difficulty as I had in my Driver's Education class in Chickasha: I could not stay awake, keeping my eyes open so that I could do what I was supposed to. I did not pass a few sections of my G.E.D..
Now, people should know, especially those that knew me personally, why I am he way I am, AND that I do not dwell on the thoughts of myself being disabled, and that there are some things I cannot learn to do.
I choose carefully...
